Before you go to bed the night before your tooth extraction appointment, make sure you have everything set and ready to go. Being prepared for your appointment will make things go more smoothly, and we recommend preparing for it by doing the following things:

Confirm your plans
Make sure you know exactly what time your appointment is scheduled. You don’t want to be late. It is also a good idea to confirm your travel arrangements, whether they are with family members or friends. It’s best to have a ride to and from your appointment because the anesthetic and sedation might take some time to wear off.

Follow food instructions
Generally, it is best to fast for 8-12 hours before your appointment. So, we recommend that you avoid eating or drinking after midnight the night before your appointment. However, there are exceptions for those with health issues. If you are diabetic or if you have a health condition that requires you to eat food, please inform us of this condition.

Ask your dentist for details
If you know the details of the extraction treatment, you might feel less nervous and anxious. So, we recommend asking your dentist for a step-by-step explanation of the treatment so you will be prepared.

If you do these three things, you will be ready for a necessary appointment that will finally restore your oral health. Our team at Joseph C. Styger, D.D.S., INC wants you to have a nice, relaxing, and calm dental experience when you come in to work with Dr. Joseph C. Styger, so we encourage you to call (415) 421-0811 if you have any questions or if you need help preparing for your appointment. We look forward to talking with you!
